CPTED consultancy, grounded in evidence.
Six areas of practice, each built on current research rather than received wisdom. For examples of the work itself, see our project history on the About page.
CPTED review of Development Applications
CPTED review reports to Planning Authority standards, conforming with requirements in all Australian States and internationally. Each review includes assessment of development and building layout drawings, a site visit to identify site-specific factors, crime risk and geographical juxtaposition analysis, and a structured report to the standard required for planning approval — with an electronic draft for comment and a final PDF report.
This is the largest part of our consultancy work, spanning individual buildings through to city precincts, transport corridors and major mixed-use developments.
CPTED certification in Green Star certification
CPTED certification within a Green Star certification process is a distinct body of knowledge in its own right, not simply a standard CPTED review with a certification label attached. It requires understanding both the CPTED evidence base and the specific requirements of Green Star assessment, so that crime prevention design measures are documented and evidenced in the form certifiers require.
This is one of our most established areas of work, alongside Development Application review.
CPTED and Counter-Terrorism design advice
Design advice addressing counter-terrorism and hostile-vehicle-mitigation considerations, drawing on our membership of the Western Australian Crowded Places Forum (organised and chaired by the WA Police Protective Security Unit) and NSW Police Safer by Design certification. We can advise on whether the Australian Government's Crowded Places legislation applies to your premises or event, and assist with a Crowded Place Security Audit or Security Self-Assessment. This work aligns with the UK's 2010 policy "Working Together to Protect Crowded Spaces" and with NSW Police Safer by Design assessments.
We also bring deep, internationally-informed expertise in Young People and Youth Work as it relates to reducing and reversing radicalisation in young people — work grounded in direct experience with hard-to-reach youth and disadvantaged communities going back decades.
Counter-terrorism design advice is typically provided as part of a broader Development Application or Green Star review, rather than as a standalone engagement — if your project has counter-terrorism or crowded-places considerations, raise it as part of your review scope.
Cyber-CPTED design advice
The built environment is increasingly digital, and cyber-security increasingly involves physical design considerations that pure IT solutions don't address. We call this field Cyber-CPTED — a term coined by our CEO, Dr Terence Love — and provide design advice at the intersection of physical CPTED and digital/cyber-security risk, including for professional service organisations such as financial planners, engineers and business advisers.
As with counter-terrorism advice, this is typically provided as part of a broader review engagement rather than as a standalone service — ask us to include it in the scope of your project.
Support for development of CPTED and CT training programs
Beyond our own certified courses, we support other organisations in developing their own CPTED and counter-terrorism training programs — drawing on experience delivering certified training nationally and internationally, including an ICA MasterClass and training for government and security agencies.

Research, Policy Development and CPTED Guidelines
We undertake CPTED research, contribute to policy development, and produce practical guidelines for government and industry — work that has included research commissioned by the Federal Attorney-General's Department and planning guidelines developed for the WA Planning Commission.
This research base is what keeps our review and design work evidence-led rather than speculative — a distinction that matters, given how much conventional CPTED wisdom has turned out not to hold up under scrutiny.
